SENATE BILL 5513
 
Senate Bill 5513 - Concerning Lodging Taxes - this bill seeks to expand flexibility of existing lodging taxes for affordable workforce housing.
 
Under Senate Bill 5513, one-third of the three percent lodging taxes would be allocated to affordable workforce housing. The intent is to allow a Chelan County community, to access 1% of its 5% lodging tax.
 
In partnership with the Chelan and Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce, the WVCC signed off on a letter to discuss the impact of this bill on our County.

Senator Hawkins since then has filed a new Senate Bill 5868 to address affordable housing which would allow some flexibility for use of .09 funds
 

 
APPLY NOW FOR FINANCIAL RELIEF
 
The Small Business Administration (SBA) announced the availability of disaster loans for folks impacted by flooding and mudslides from 11/13/21 through 11/15/21.
 
The following areas have been determined to be adversely affected by the disaster:
 
Primary Areas (Physical Damage and Economic Injury Loans): Clallam, Skagit, and Whatcom Counties and the Lummi Nation, Nooksack Indian Tribe, and Quileute Tribe. 
Contiguous Counties (Economic Injury Loans Only): Washington: Chelan, Island, Jefferson, Okanogan, Snohomish.
 

 
NATIONAL GUARD DEPLOYED TO CONFLUENCE HEALTH
 
Washington Governor Jay Inslee is deploying National Guard members to help overcrowded hospitals amid the omicron surge, the governor announced during a press conference on Thursday.
 
100 state National Guard members will be deployed to hospitals across Washington. This includes Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and Confluence Health/Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.
 

 
TESTING SITE & TRIAGE CENTER
 
COVID-19 testing at the Town Toyota Center is now available.
 
To be tested a patient must be symptomatic for COVID and pre-registration is required by visiting the health district website or by calling 509-903-3900. 
 
A triage center has opened at the Saddlerock EPC Church for those who are experiencing symptoms. The triage center is to free up space for non-COVID health emergencies at Central Washington Hospital.
