Job Description:
The Corporate Controller will be responsible for managing the daily operational accounting within the finance & accounting department. The candidate must be a self-starter, resilient, be adaptable to change and possess strong accounting and tax background, as well as good organization, communication and leadership skills. The Corporate Controller will report to the Director of Finance.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
- Oversee accounting personnel, including payroll, billings, collections, and accounts payable.
- Mentor and develop staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
- Regularly meet with team members to provide training, guidance, and support.
Accounting Operations & Internal Controls
- Manage daily accounting functions, ensuring efficiency and adherence to policies.
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Review and optimize accounting processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Tax Compliance
- Lead annual corporate tax reporting and coordinate with external CPA firms.
- Oversee federal and state tax filings, including payroll, sales, use, GET, and heavy highway taxes.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with tax regulations and identify strategic tax opportunities.
Job Cost & Compliance
- Support Work in Progress (WIP) reviews and ensure accurate job cost tracking.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Work closely with operations teams to provide job cost insights that drive efficiency.
- Support various corporate, tax, payroll and job audits, as necessary
Financials, Planning & Analysis
- Have a robust understanding and adherence to US GAAP in order to assist with month-end financials and ESOP accounting.
- Assist with financial forecasts, business intelligence reporting, and ad hoc analysis.
- Develop tools and reports to support management decision-making.
- Provide insights to enhance financial performance and operational efficiency.

- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university majoring in Finance or Accounting
- CPA preferred
- 7+ years of relevant financial management experience with proven leadership and management skills in a “hands-on” construction environment
- Corporate tax and audit background
- Technical proficiency in construction ERP software, Vista by Viewpoint experience preferred
- Ability to effectively train, manage and mentor employees. Demonstrated history of working well in a team environment
- Experience with report writing in Crystal Reports, preferred
- Strong experience with Microsoft Excel
