Wenatchee Symphony: America
Internationally recognized bluegrass, jazz, country, fiddling and classical violinist and composer Mark O’Connor will perform his Improvised Violin Concerto with the Wenatchee Valley Symphony Orchestra. O'Connor has won two Grammy awards; one for his New Nashville Cats album and another for his Appalachian Journey album that he recorded with Yo-Yo Ma and Edgar Meyer. He was named Musician of the Year by the Country Music Association six years in a row (from 1991 to 1996). Over a three-year period, Mark was the most in-demand session musician of any instrument in any genre, and can be heard on over 500 albums including those of Dolly Parton, James Taylor, Randy Travis and The Judds. Also on the program will be Bernstein’s Overture to Candide and Gershwin’s An American In Paris. All patrons are invited to attend a complimentary post-concert reception in the PAC lobby following the concert.
