Plein Air Painting Class
Sam Collett is a landscape and portrait artist from Joseph, Oregon, an area of majestic beauty which has inspired him to do much of his painting outdoors. He will lead a two-day plein air painting workshop sponsored by the Wenatchee Valley Museum on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 28-29. "En plein air," a French expression meaning "in the open air," describes works that were painted outdoors at the site.
The objectives of the workshop are to improve the students ability to really see and focus on a point of interest in the landscape; to help students translate what they see to the picture plane (the lay-in); and to bring the ?"ay-in" to completion. Maximum 11 students. Students should meet at the museum, dress for the weather and bring drawing and painting materials and a sack lunch each day. Sam Collett's work is currently on view at the Wenatchee Valley Museum in the Gold Gallery, July 15 through August 28. Cost is $150; preregister at 888-6240.
