Fire Ecology in Action
Take a hike with renowned photographer John Marshall and research ecologist Paul Hessburg on a tour of the Rat Creek Fire area in Leavenworth. John Marshall has been using photography to document dynamic changes in the landscape there since the 1994 fire. His photographs attest to the resiliency of vegetation after a major disturbance. Paul Hessburg is an expert in landscape disturbance and fire ecology. The tour will visit sites that are still recovering and discuss how plants, animals, and landscape changes after a major fire.
The hike will be moderately strenuous over 2-3 miles of uneven, brushy terrain. The trip is limited to 15; RSVP required. Sign up on our website www.cdlandtrust.org
