First Tuesday Lecture Series
(An Hour with Woody Guthrie.) Singer-guitarist-historian Carl Allen portrays Guthrie, hired in 1941 to write songs about the New Deal power projects being built in the Northwest. He wrote 26 songs in 30 days about the Columbia, the dams, the workmen and all he saw around him. Allen shares the story of how the songs were written and what Washington was like in 1941.
