Accounting Director
Wage Class/Range: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Supervises: 2 Accounting Clerks
Salary Range: $30.00 - 33.65 Hourly
Status: Seasonal (September-April) or Year-around, depending on experience

ACCOUNTING DIRECTOR JOB SUMMARY:
This position will be involved in the day-to-day accounting functions of the Ski Resorts division of the Scrivanich companies which includes but is not limited to Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort, Blacktail Mountain Ski Area and Tamarack Saddle LLC. The accounting team works in two offices – one in the town of Wenatchee and another one at Mission Ridge Admin offices. This position will require you to be able to work from both locations based on business needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS:
- Responsible for accurate preparation of monthly journal entries across multiple companies
- Responsible for review of daily sales process for both ski resorts, including reviewing reports from POS and Merchant and helping research variances between POS and the bank.
- Responsible for review of the bi-weekly payroll and related benefit disbursements
- Responsible for new applications and employee onboarding and offboarding, including helping with job fair and annual orientation and training
- Support with other employee related tasks, like Paycom, scheduling, benefits, etc.
- Responsible for reconciliation of loans across multiple companies
- Responsible for the reconciliation of intercompany payables and receivables in an accurate and timely manner.
- Responsible for review of financial statements for both ski resorts and identifying necessary adjustments by the 10th of each month.
- Responsible for accurate and timely preparation of monthly excise tax returns, as well as researching variances.
- Preparation Standard Operating Procedures and training staff to make sure they understand and follow the process.
- Support other staff by providing guidance and reviewing their work as needed
- Support with tax related research as needed
- Support CFO and owners of the company by providing key reporting on the business performance.
- Support year-end tax filing by reviewing financial statements and providing necessary reports to CFO or CPA tax firm.
- Support annual insurance renewal process, as well as the annual audit
- Lead accounting team in the absence of the CFO
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
SKILLS REQUIRED:- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and regulations. CPA a plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as proficiency in Google suite.
- Knowledge of a major accounting systems or ERP.
- Ability to quickly shift between entities and priorities.
- Ability to define and recommend creative solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks and projects.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of ten years of experience working with an automated accounting system including processing of accounts payable; maintenance of subsidiary ledgers and reconciliation to the general ledger, or any combination of training and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
- Experience leading teams is highly preferred
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Business Administration
- Experience with NetSuite or other major ERP
- CPA is a plus
