Local musical groups and Wenatchee Valley College faculty and students will showcase their talents at the second annual “Art of Music” - a musical extravaganza, art exhibit and silent auction, on Sunday, March 25, at the Performing Arts Center of Wenatchee. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased at the box office, online at www.pacwen.org or by calling 509.663.ARTS (2787). One hundred percent of the proceeds will go toward support for student scholarships and programs at Wenatchee Valley College thanks to the generosity of community sponsors.
The afternoon includes an art exhibit and silent auction, musical performances and the presentation of the WVC Foundation’s annual awards – the Harvey and the Friend of the College. This year’s recipients are: WVC Trustee, Phil Rasmussen, receiving Harvey Award and Icicle Fund, Harriett Bullitt and Lisa Bergman on hand to receive the Friend of the College Award. Additionally, Wilf and Kathy Woods will make a very special announcement public during the event.
The art exhibit and silent auction begin at 3 p.m. and the music performance begins at 4 p.m. with performances by Wenatchee Big Band, Wenatchee High School Chamber Singers and Mariachi Huenachi, and featuring special guests Dr. Randy Wagner, professor of voice and director of choral activities at Eastern Washington University, and Scott Miller, director of voice studies at Whitworth University. Dr. Wagner and Dr. Miller will be accompanied by Pianist, Lisa Bergman.
A silent auction is included in the event, as well as the raffle of a gold and diamond music note pendant designed by Bruce Simpson, fine jeweler valued at over $1,000. A few of the silent auction items availble will be a gun safe donated by Keyhole Securities, a Brighton handbag donated by Collins' Fashions, a hand painted Anuschka handbag donated by Palmer Shoes, a Wine Barrel Adirondack Chair donated by Bob Buhl of Chelan's Barewood Works, Golf for Four at the Wenatchee Golf and Country Club, Round Trip Airline Vouchers on SeaPort Airlines and much more!
