Immerse yourself in the serenity of a Japanese Tea Ceremony presented by the East-West Chanoyu Center of Seattle. Attendees will observe a traditional tea ceremony, then enjoy a frothy bowl of whipped powdered green tea and a seasonal Kyoto-style sweet. A discussion of the purpose, cultural context, and contemporary relevance of this influential 400-year-old art form will be supplemented by a Q & A session at the conclusion of the ceremony. Advance reservations are required and may be made online at store.wvmcc.org by calling 888-6240. If desired, complete your Japanese experience with a no-host lunch at Iwa Sushi & Grill, just a block northeast of the museum.
