Saturday, October 22nd is Make a Difference Day and Pit Bull Awareness Day. Not only is it a day to make a difference in your community, it is also a day to make a difference for one of the most misunderstood dog breeds in the country.
The well-established tradition of "see a need, do a good deed" on Make a Difference Day is grass-roots, straight-from-the-heart-giving. Our community depends on this day to be strengthened, cleaned up, and rejuvenated and the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society is no exception. Pit Bull Awareness Day was established as a day to change perceptions and stereotypes about this loveable breed.
"We temperament test every dog that goes up for adoption at our animal shelter," says Karen Headlee, Director of Shelter Operations. "We provide a caring environment for over 200 Pit Bulls and Pit Bull Mixes every year. Despite the most positive descriptions of these dogs, Pit Bulls and Pit Bull Mixes stay an average of twice as long as other dog breeds."
To celebrate these two special days, the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society invites you to Make a Difference in a Pit Bull's Life at a special Adopt-a-Thon on Saturday, October 22nd from 11am to 3pm. Take advantage of great adoption specials all day, including:
* Adoption specials may not be combined.
