SUMMARY:Science In Our Valley: CANCELLED
DESCRIPTION:Science In Our Valley is a series of weekly seminars free and open to the public. Each series features the research of local scientists and invited guest speakers. The purpose of the series to encourage the development of an engaged regional scientific community and share the incredible research happening in our own backyard. Estrogen\, Testosterone and Fats\, Oh My! with Dr. April Binder Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a leading cause of infertility in women of reproductive age. It is a hormonal disorder characterized by increased testosterone in women and is often associated with metabolic dysfunction. In the Binder lab\, we study how altered concentrations of estrogen and testosterone affect the ovary and fat tissues\, which may contribute to the symptoms observed in PCOS. Our goal is to gain a better understanding of what is happening within specific tissues\, that could lead to improved treatments in the future.
