SUMMARY:GWATA: Fighting Fake News
DESCRIPTION:Fighting Fake News is the first of four member-only technology classes in GWATA's 2018 event schedule. This event will be presented by Dominick Bonny\, and is made possible with the support of Digital Media Northwest and The Wenatchee World. \n\n \n\nDuring this one-hour presentation\, Dominick will present an analysis and engage in a discussion based on Daniel Patrick Moynihan's statement: "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion\, but not their own facts." Dominick will discuss how the public can use technology\, coupled with reason\, to evaluate the ever-changing news landscape. Attendees will talk about the importance of a balanced media diet\, learn how to avoid building a "digital echo chamber\," and consider how traditional values like critical reading and considering the source are still crucial.
